Growing up in Santa Monica, California, Julie (Juls) was voted “Most Likely to be a Child Psychologist.” That endorsement paved the path to Cal State University, Northridge completing undergraduate degrees in Child Development and Psychology. After graduating with a Master of Arts degree in Counseling from the University of Arizona in 1984, Julie longed for salt air and the hum of traffic, and came home to Southern California, interned and then directed a chemical dependency clinic.
In 1988, she was licensed as a psychotherapist and opened her private practice and consulting business in North San Diego, providing services to school districts, social service organizations, universities and private business. In 1999, Julie received her Doctorate in Psychology from the American Behavioral Studies Institute in Tustin, California, where she joined her clinical experience with theoretical study in healing trauma.
Becoming a mom at 41, Julie was inspired by her own quest for meaning in the midst of diapers and day to day demands. She challenged what was getting in the way of women being content and how so many clients felt confused as to their true purpose. Creating Essential Women Discovery programs, Julie started to bring women together in small and large groups to dig deep to explore hidden hurts and buried dreams.
With humor, insight and a steadfast dedication to healing, Julie invites women to become Pirate Sisters. She offers an emotional MAP, helping women travel to a place of believing in the purpose of their lives by unearthing their Self-Bling.
When Julie is not meeting with clients or conducting workshops and lecture events, she revels in precious time spent with her family, giggling with friends, boogie boarding with her son and charting the next course as a Pirate Sister!
